What is a Green Assembly?

A Green Party Assembly is an all-member meeting of the Green Party. Unlike Green Party Council meetings that focus more on running the Green Party organization, Green Party Assemblies are called when there are important decisions to be made.

Why is a Green Party Assembly being called now?

The San Joaquin County Council scheduled this Green

1) There are three vacancies on the seven-member S.J.C. Green Party County Council. Council vacancies can be filled only at a Green Party Assembly or by going to the polls and voting in a general election. It is too long to wait for a general election to fill these vacancies.

2) Green Party members may vote on initiatives, endorsements, issues and more.

3) We haven’t had a Green Assembly since February 2017. We are a party of, by, and for; the people and thus, need your input on issues affecting you, your friends, community and the people around you to be an effective party for the people. Please join us!

All you need to do is attend the upcoming Green Assembly and nominate yourself for a position on the Council. The Council meets once or twice monthly for about 90 minutes. In addition, Council members commit time to work on subcommittees, perform outreach and help put on events.

These are some of the duties of Council members:

∙ Raise funds and make expenditures as necessary;

∙ Speak for, or authorize individuals to speak for, the SJC Greens;

The California Green Party has scheduled a statewide Green Party gathering in Ventura, CA on November 11th & 12th. Green Party voters are welcome to attend and participate.
